Cookies and other technologies

This is the cookie policy for The Trafford Centre. We use cookies and other technologies to help improve your experience on our website(s) and app(s) (the "Site(s)") as well as in our Centre.

Cookies

Our Sites use cookies and other similar technologies to collect and store information. A cookie may be used in the processing of your personal data. Cookies and similar technologies enable you to be remembered when using that computer or device to interact with websites and online services and can be used to manage a range of features and content as well as storing searches and presenting personalised content.

A cookie is a small text file placed into the memory of your computer or device by our computers, a copy of which is sent by your computer or device whenever it communicates with the Sites. A number of cookies and similar technologies we use last only for the duration of your web or App session and expire when you close your browser/or exit the App. Others are used to remember you when you return to the Sites and will last for longer. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, which enables you to decide if you want to accept it or not. Please note, however, that some of the services and features offered through our Sites may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.

We use these cookies and other technologies on the basis that they are necessary for the performance of a contract with you, or because using them is in our legitimate interests (where we have considered that these are not overridden by your rights), or where you have consented to their use.

We use several types of cookies on our Sites:

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential to navigate around the Sites and use their features. Without these cookies, the Sites' capacity to operate fully may be limited. They are necessary both in order to operate the Sites in accordance with our terms with you, and for our legitimate interests.

Performance cookies

These cookies collect information about how visitors use the Sites. They allow us to recognise and collect statistical data including the number of visitors and length of time spent, to help us identify which pages and features are most popular. This information helps us improve our users’ experience of the site.

Our website uses the Google Analytics service to help us see how visitors are using our website and to help us improve the experience for you. For full details of the cookies set by this service, please see https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245

Functionality cookies

These cookies enable customisation of how a site should look and remembers the choices made by a user – such as their name, region or the products they have viewed and compared. They allow us to provide enhanced and more personalised features.

We do not currently set any cookies that fall into this category.

Third-Party Cookies

Some pages on our sites may have embedded text, images, or tools provided by third parties. These include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, You-Tube, Google and others who may set cookies based upon the pages you visit on our sites. We have no control over their third-party cookies. If you wish to understand more about their use of cookies you should visit their site and view their cookie pages.

Disabling cookies

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies and similar technologies, but if you prefer, you can change your browser settings to prevent that. However, you may not be able to take full advantage of the Sites if you do so.

If you, or another user of your device, wish to prevent the use of cookies at any time, you may do so by:

Altering the settings on your device.

If you want to disable cookies on the Sites, you can change your website browser settings to reject cookies. How you can do this will depend on the browser you use. Further details on how to disable cookies for the most popular browsers can be found at https://www.cookiesandyou.com/disable-cookies/

The effect of disabling cookies depends on which cookies you disable but, in general, the website may not operate properly if all cookies are switched off.

Google Analytics – opt out

The Sites also make use of Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”), which uses cookies to analyse how users use the Sites. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the Sites will generally be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. At the request of Intu, Google will use this information for the purpose of measuring your activity on the Sites, compiling statistical reports on overall website activity for Intu and providing other services relating to Site activity and internet usage. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

You can prevent the collection of the data generated by the cookie by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available from the following link: Google Analytics opt-out.

Internet Protocol (IP) Address

We may also use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer the Sites and to improve the service we offer to you. An IP address is a numeric code that identifies your computer on a network, or in this case, the internet. Your IP address might also be used to gather broad demographic information. We may perform IP lookups to determine which domain you are coming from (i.e. aol.com, yourcompany.com) to more accurately gauge our users' demographics.

Information from these types of cookies and technologies or about your usage of the Sites may be combined with information about you from any other source.

Other technologies

We may use sensor technology in our Centre to help us understand more about, and improve, our visitors’ experiences. The sensors capture signals automatically emitted from mobile devices but do not, in any way, attempt to store personal information from, or about, the device or its user. This information may be used by us to help understand how shoppers use and move around the Centre, helping us improve the overall shopping experience.

For more information about this technology, or the cookies we use on the Sites, please get in touch.

We use cookies to help us provide you with a better service, but do not track anything that can be used to personally identify you. If you prefer us not to set these cookies, please visit our Cookie Settings page or continue browsing our site to accept them. Close
